Get to know Güímar.
Güímar lies in the south-east of the island, a short way from Santa Cruz. In its middle slopes is the Parque Etnográfico Pirámides de Güímar, built around the stepped pyramids of the area, with a museum promoted by the explorer Thor Heyerdahl. On the coast, the Malpaís de Güímar special nature reserve shows a large volcanic cone and the landscape left where lava met the sea.

Is the Malpaís de Güímar walk hard?
No: WebTenerife rates the circuit of just under 7 km from El Puertito low difficulty and suitable for all ages and levels, about two and a half hours. It crosses open lava with little shade, so carry water and sun protection.
Can I combine Candelaria and Güímar in one day?
