Costa Adeje
Every day trip starts at this station
Most visitors without a car begin in Costa Adeje, because the airport bus ends at its station and the buses to Teide, Los Gigantes and Santa Cruz leave from the same place. Between trips there are fourteen beaches, a sea you can swim in all year, and pilot whales offshore.

Getting to Costa Adeje
From Tenerife South Airport, follow the TFS–Costa Adeje guide for line 40 and finish at Costa Adeje Station. The same station is the clear starting point in our Los Gigantes and Teide guides. Once there, check the walking route or local connection to your particular beach, hotel or marina; the interurban guides do not promise door-to-door arrival.

Before you settle in
Keep the way home in mind.
Return to Costa Adeje Station with time to identify the correct platform and keep to the departure you chose on this page's board. For a boat trip, use the operator’s confirmed meeting point and end time, then leave a buffer before any onward bus. Do not assume that a tour pickup, Puerto Colón berth and Costa Adeje Station are the same place.
See the next busesA little introduction
Get to know Costa Adeje.
Costa Adeje stretches along Tenerife’s sunnier south-west coast, where a string of beaches and promenades sits below the older Villa de Adeje. It works especially well for travellers without a car: Tenerife South Airport has a direct bus corridor to Costa Adeje Station, while separate routes leave the station for Los Gigantes and Teide National Park. Treat the station as your transport anchor, then plan beach, heritage and boat time around it. The resort coast is polished and easy-going; the historic town adds stone architecture and a sense of the municipality beyond its hotels.
Why go
-
Beaches for every colour of sand
Adeje counts fourteen beaches with sand of every colour, swimmable all year on an average annual temperature of 24 °C and close to 300 days of sun.
-
One of the world’s great whale colonies
Pilot whales, dolphins and other marine mammals live in Adeje’s waters, one of the most important cetacean colonies in the world, watched from boats licensed for the purpose.
-
A station, not a hunt for a stop
Costa Adeje Station is a named end point on the airport line and the start of the Teide, Los Gigantes and Santa Cruz lines, so every day trip begins and ends in one place.

Make a day of it
What to do in Costa Adeje
- Beach Don’t miss
Beaches and the seafront
Choose a stretch such as Playa del Duque or Fañabé for a low-effort first day. The long seafront makes it easy to combine a swim, a promenade walk and sunset without committing to another cross-island journey.
- Activity Don’t miss
Whales and dolphins from the south coast
Costa Adeje is one of Tenerife’s established starting areas for marine excursions. A booked sailing trip can turn the coast into the main event, but its marina meeting point is operationally separate from the public-bus station.
- Culture Don’t miss
Villa de Adeje
Head inland for Plaza de España, the church of Santa Úrsula and the Casa Fuerte remains. Together they offer a compact historic counterpoint to the beachfront and show why Adeje is more than its resort strip.
- Activity Don’t miss
Siam Park
WebTenerife lists Siam Park at Avenida Siam Park in Costa Adeje itself, a Thai-themed water park with 19 attractions. None of the TITSA route pages we cite names a Siam Park stop, so plan the local walk, taxi or park transport from your hotel rather than an interurban bus to the gate.

- Activity Don’t miss
A day on La Gomera
Los Cristianos, the next town along line 40, is Tenerife’s port for La Gomera. Fred. Olsen and Baleària both sail from Los Cristianos to San Sebastián de La Gomera, each giving a crossing of about 50 minutes, which makes the neighbouring island a realistic day away from the south coast.
- Walk
Walk the seafront towards Los Cristianos
A broad avenue runs along the sand from Costa Adeje past Playa de Las Vistas to Los Cristianos, with shops and restaurants the whole way; Las Vistas has an artificial island with a fountain and breakwaters that keep its water calm.
- Walk
Old Adeje and the Barranco del Infierno
Above the resort, the Villa de Adeje keeps a historic centre around the Casa Fuerte and the church of Santa Úrsula, and the Barranco del Infierno beside it is a protected special nature reserve. More than 45 % of the municipality is protected land.
- Activity
Snorkel or dive the Adeje shore
WebTenerife counts more than 500 species along Adeje’s coast, which is why its seabed is one of the island’s favourite diving grounds.

How a day in Costa Adeje feels
A plan built on the buses this guide already names. The departure times are in the board on this page; choose your bus back before you set out.
-
Morning
Land, ride line 40 to the station
From Tenerife South Airport, line 40 runs through Los Cristianos to Costa Adeje Station; after it stops for the night, line 711 covers the same corridor. Drop the bags, then walk down to the seafront.
-
Middle of the day
A beach, then the avenue
Pick one stretch of sand and give it the middle of the day; the promenade towards Las Vistas and Los Cristianos is the walk for the late afternoon, when the light softens.
-
Afternoon
Plan tomorrow from the station
Line 342 to Teide and lines 477 and 473 to Los Gigantes leave from Costa Adeje Station, and line 110 runs to Santa Cruz. Read the board for your day type before you book a boat or a table.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about Costa Adeje
Is there a bus from Tenerife South Airport to Costa Adeje?
Yes. TITSA line 40 runs every day from Tenerife South Airport (TFS) through Los Cristianos to Costa Adeje Station, and night line 711 takes over outside its hours. Board at the airport: towards Costa Adeje the bus picks up at intermediate stops only where someone is getting off. The departure times are in the board on this page.
Can you get to Teide from Costa Adeje by bus?
Yes, on line 342, which leaves Costa Adeje Station once a day via Los Cristianos and Vilaflor for the Parador, the cable car base and El Portillo, and comes back the same way in the afternoon. It is one bus up and one bus down, so the return is fixed before you set off; the cable car and the summit permit are separate bookings.
Is Costa Adeje a good base without a car?
For the south, yes: it has the airport bus, the beaches, the whale-watching boats from Puerto Colón and direct buses to Los Gigantes, Teide and Santa Cruz. The north coast, La Laguna and Anaga are long days from here; if those matter more, Puerto de la Cruz or Santa Cruz is the better base.

Good to know
Small details. Better days.
Show 4 local tips Show fewer
-
Pair the coast with the old town
Give the seafront and Villa de Adeje separate blocks of time. Their elevation and character differ, and squeezing both between a fixed excursion and sunset makes the day needlessly rushed.
-
Build day trips around the return first
For Teide or Los Gigantes, choose the return departure and boarding point before adding activities. Published route pages can change, and a tour’s own transport arrangements do not validate a TITSA connection.
-
Book the ferry, then find the walk to the port
The TITSA pages for lines 40 and 711 name Los Cristianos, not the ferry terminal. Buy the La Gomera crossing on the operator’s site, check its check-in instructions, and allow time to walk from the bus stop to the port. The last sailing back decides the day, not the bus.
-
Choose an authorised whale-watching boat
WebTenerife notes that whale-watching boats leave from Los Cristianos, Puerto Colón and Los Gigantes, and that the boats must hold a ministry authorisation; the same page links the list of authorised vessels.
